Trump Outlines Plans for Energy Industry at 2016 Shale Conference

img_5707-620x348From September 21-22, 2016, SHALE INSIGHT 2016 provided participants a front-row seat for the most important discussions on shale development, featuring some of the most prominent industry and government leaders. Attendees networked with the most influential industry executives and innovative thought leaders through two days of technical and public affairs insight sessions, major keynote addresses, and a dynamic exhibit hall featuring all the major shale players.

Donald Trump was the keynote speaker at the event. Trump is an outspoken advocate of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas, while he accuses Democrat Hillary Clinton of working to end their use. He said that as president, he would open federal lands and off-shore areas for energy exploration.

He told the crowd of about 1,200 industry representatives at the David L. Lawrence convention center that as president, he would encourage American energy production and roll back environmental regulations as a way to “make America wealthy” again.

He highlighted his plans to undo President Obama’s major climate change initiative, the Clean Power Plan, and said he would lift drilling restrictions offshore and on federal lands, as well as a recent Obama administration moratorium on new coal leases.
